Introduction
A whole rectangle can be split into five fiths as shown.
This means that 15 fifths is the same as 3 whole rectangles or 3 wholes.
It’s not too hard to understand when you can see it, is it?
How about if we haven’t the space or the time to draw it all out?
We can use our knowledge of our times tables!
Above, we had three lots of five. How are you with your five or your three times tables?
5 x 3 = 15
15 ÷ 5 = 3
Suddenly, it becomes much easier to work it out, doesn’t it?
